Templates are a digital version of page maps, so you basically just have to move your picture into the right place, add some journaling and digital paper, and voila! I'm a tech geek, I admit...
I plan to have the full collection printed as an 8x8 book at Shutterfly. I've had a lot of fun so far, and the fact that I can tinker on the computer (which is in the kitchen) while my family is near makes digital scrapbooking easier than paper scrapbooking (my scrap room is upstairs). At least for this season. Plus, there's no little bits of paper to clean up!
